Football Game and After-party, Friday night |

All reservations for the Reunion Dinner will include a complimentary copy of the Reunion Memory Book on CD!, which will include updated classmate info and photos from the reunion (will be published and mailed after the event). Those not able to attend but still wanting the CD can order one for $10. Reservations were mailed in July, but only if we had your address! If you haven't received one, fill out the Alumni Survey (click the icon below) to make sure we have your current address and can send you one! Better yet, go to the reservation page by clicking the icon at the top of the page, print it and send it in to save time, and let us know you're coming by e-mailing one of us through this website (see the home page, e-mail Veronica or Pete).
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Sheraton West Tower for the special reunion price of $169.00! There is a limited number of rooms available at this price (their normal price is $329.00!), so you must call them at 619-291-2900 soon, and tell the operator that you are with the University of San Diego High School 30th Class Reunion. Reservations are first-come, first-served, and must be made by September 15th. (To get the special room rate, call the number above rather than use the reservation weblink below).
Those teachers which we can contact will be invited to attend after the buffet has completed; you can get re-acquainted and prove that you turned out alright after all!
If you can provide a door prize of any kind (gift certificate, restaurant pass, bottle of wine, luxury vacation trip to Tahiti. . .), please let us know; we will acknowledge your contribution when the door prize is awarded.
We ask that you complete the Alumni Survey as soon as possible and indicate if you will attend the event, and if you anticipate bringing a guest. This will help us to make timely arrangements.
We did not have a current address for you. We sent early Bird forms to those classmates who have filled out the 'Alumni Survey' on this website, or for whom we had a recent address through the UNI newsletter. The Early Bird discounted pricing is no longer in effect, you can download a copy of the formal invitation (mailed July 23) on this website. Click here: Invitation Form
Classmates.com only allows us to send out a 'bulk' e-mail (Lee Ewin is the official contact on Classmates). We cannot obtain a comprehensive e-mail roster or addresses from Classmates; we can only send a blind e-mail telling you where else to look up reunion info. You are on the official reunion site now, but you must go to the 'Alumni Survey' page (click the image above) to tell us how to contact you.
Yes. We mailed the formal invitations July 23. The Early Bird offered discounted prices to the reunion and the football game/afterparty if received by June 1. Any Early Bird forms postmarked by June 1 will still be honored, be sure to include payment for the standard pricing if you download and send in the Early Bird form after June 1. (If we receive an Early Bird form postmarked after June 1 with payment for less than standard pricing as shown on the form, we will apply any amount first to the Buffet dinner, and contact you for any balance due).
Make the check payable to USDHS. We also accept Visa and Mastercard.
We must first fill our quota commitment to pay for the room and buffet, we are currently only selling tickets by reservation. We may determine pricing for tickets sold after September 1, but they will be more expensive. We do not anticipate tickets at the door.
That's the 1972 annual cover, by Donna Ross. See the 'Lost & Found' page for more annual covers.
Friday, October 18, Homecoming football game v. Serra High, afterparty at the UNI gym. Location of the game: TBD
Saturday, October 19, Reunion buffet, Sheraton San Diego, West Tower.
Yes, but your classmates would really, really, really like to see you at both. (The 'Digital Memory Book' CD is included with reservations to the buffet). We have indications that some classmates are coming from all across the country to be here.
No. The after-party will only be open to those with reservations, we will send packages with game ticket vouchers and after-party tickets. The UNI students are setting up the Homecoming dance on campus that night, there will be security staff onsite at the (now) gated entrance, we must provide them with a list of paid attendees.
Early bird prices must be RECEIVED by June 1. Standard prices must be RECEIVED by September 1. Mail early!
Fill out the 'Alumni Survey' on this website, and authorize us to post your e-mail address on the 'Lost & Found' page. We will include that info in the 'Digital Memory Book' to be given to all attendees after the event. You will be able to get a copy of this CD for $10. And, SEND A PHOTO!
We are trying to get some door prizes together. Send us a door prize (gift certificate, restaurant certificate, knicknack, artwork, wine, WalMart stock certificates, AirFrance SST tickets. . .). Look at the 'Lost & Found' page and tell us where 'Lost' classmates are. Use the e-mail buttons on that page and the home page to contact us.
The mid-October date was selected in anticipation that this would be the weekend of either the Homecoming game or the Saints-Uni game (it turned out to be the Homecoming, the schedule wasn't announced until after our ballroom reservation date). Saturday evening is planned for the event after the friday night game.
We anticipated that many spouses may not be able to attend, so the event is being planned around a buffet with background entertainment, leaving time to gather, renew old friendships and catch up on classmate activities. Some of the Committee has begun to argue for dancing, so that may materialize!
The reunion committee visited three potential sites, click here to go directly to the Safari Journal of the committee's road-trip adventure to visit these locales, or go to the link at the bottom of the page. The final selection, based on a variety of factors including availability, menu, venue and price was the Sheraton West Tower, Harbor Island.

This is a traditional hotel / ballroom location, convenient to the airport and with a view of the bay and San Diego skyline. They do not have a specific website for viewing. The next best page is: |

The schematic below is the West Tower, first floor level. We are in the Fairbanks ballroom.
For those who have not been to San Diego in the last several years, there has been much change in the entertainment and hotel scene. If you have not been back in more than a decade, you may really be surprised! The Gaslamp Quarter (Fifth Avenue to the harbor) not only was renovated twenty years ago with the addition of Horton Plaza Shopping Center, but has undergone a major expansion in the last few years with the anticipation of the new Padres Ballpark, to be located near Tenth & Imperial. As the local music scene, with the latest haute-cuisine restaurants, the Gaslamp is the place to be at night.
The Seaport Village shopping area went up at the old ferry landing also about twenty years ago, the San Diego Trolley now serves the Stadium, Old Town, and points along the harbor (soon to be extended up Mission Valley to SDSU and connect at La Mesa for the El Cajon line).
The Zoo has also undergone several facelifts: Tiger River, Heart of the Zoo, Stanley's, Ituri Forest and Polar Bear Plunge. Plans are in the works to expand into the current parking area with new exhibits. The Wild Animal Park has also added new exhibits, there's even a LegoLand in Carlsbad.
Sea World has had a complete makeover since Anheiser-Busch took over: Rocky Point Preserve, Manatee Rescue, Wild Arctic (a simulation ride ala Star Tours), Shipwreck Rapids (a soak-you raft ride), and food galore! Yes, in keeping with the 'education' theme of the park (in order to get the City Council to make zoning concessions) there's even a 'Beer School', which is where they keep the Clydesdales.
There are lots of terrific hotel accommodations throughout town, a good place to start a search is at SignOn San Diego, the visitor website is: http://sandiego.citysearch.com/section/hotels_visitors/. Another good one is the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau, http://www.sdcvb.org/.
You may have learned that, several years ago, the Diocese announced plans to eventually close Uni High and build a campus in North County. The new campus is tentatively to be named Cathedral High (ironic, isn't it?), the Uni campus will be turned over to USD for likely demolition and new facilities. The current freshman class is slated to be the last graduating class of Uni High. This may be the last time many alumni have the opportunity to visit the campus and see the facility before USDHS ceases to exist. In case you wanted to see the Uni wesite, it is http://www.usdhs.org/. We may try to see if the campus can be open for a brief period during the reunion weekend in case you'd like to see it one last time.
